January 1, 2013 Happy New Year!

January 1, 2013; a new year, a fresh start, new goals and new accomplishments!  I decided to start my new year with a 5K resolution run.  I saw this 5K advertisement at my local running store, Charm City Run.  It was sponsored by Charm City Run and benefited Earl's Place (http://www.unitedministries-earlsplace.org/)  which provides housing and supportive services to homeless men in Baltimore City.

I hadn't been running due to an injury while training for my first half marathon.  I did complete the half in Las Vegas with Team Challenge  on December 2, 2012 however decided not to run again  until the new year.  Needless to say, my 5K was lousy but I completed it.    Here is a picture of me with my coach Lauren from Team Challenge.  I'm on the right with the dorky Disney 2013 glasses that I made for us.

Here's our post-race lunch which was delicious and consisted of chili, cornbread, bananas and cookies.  Wonderful food, friend and race.  I couldn't think of a better way to start 2013!

I am also doing a challenge which is being sponsored by TriandTrue and Running Halfway Around the World.  Here are my badges for January and Day 1.  I'm off to a great start!

Tomorrow I start kettleball classes at 39minuteworkout.  I will post pictures of my first work out and wish me luck as I start training again for three half marathons this year.  The first will be the Disney Princess Half Marathon in February, the second will be the Nike Women's Festival in Washington, DC and the third will be the Virginia Wine Country Half with Team Challenge.  These are just some of my goals for the new year.  What goals do you want to accomplish in the new year?
